I'm brain dead...

I was completely brain dead yesterday, so I got no homework done what so ever. So that meant I had to do it al today. Yuck. And now I am even more brain dead than before. I wrote my second concept paper for humanities, but I don't think it's as good as the first. It was hard to write it on a sonnet, we'll see how well I do though. I still don't know how we did on our presentation, so I'm waiting for that grade as well.

I did get some bows done. Aren't they cute? I made a whole bunch of bows for Rustic Star and husband went and mailed them yesterday! I hope they do well. I guess she sold about $40 worth within the first week. I sent a whole bunch of LSU bows so hopefully those will do well.

Eric has Thursday and Friday off. So Brooke can stay home with daddy while I'm at school. I like that because then I don't have to fight traffic on the way to her daycare and then fight traffic going to school.

Alright, I should get going. :) Check out my bows below!

CafeMom Etsy Sale!!!!

Life has been hectic. I have a huge psych exam tomorrow that I should be studying for, but instead I'm here updating. Ha.

It's dangerous bringing your laptop to class and having internet connection. I end up talking to friends online instead of paying attention in class, and that's never productive.

I got two things back today that I turned in last week. One was my first Sociology take home exam (the class that I never study for and haven't done a lick of homework) and got an A. And I also got back my first history paper that I studied my rump off for, and got a C+. Go figure. But I think I know what to do for my next paper so I'll be better equipped to handle the next one. I hope I do well on my psych exam. There are small take home quizzes that I've been doing pretty good on, but this is a lot of points toward my grade. Yikes. She did post a study guide and said that if we know the stuff on there, then we should be in good shape. I hope so because that's all I'm really studying.

I got this new instant messenger application called Adium and it's pretty cool. You can intagrate a lot of different chat clients so you don't have a lot of windows open. The one stinky part is, my yahoo part doesn't always seem to connect. So irritating. But it connects to MySpace IM and FaceBook IM. I really like the fact that it can host GMail jabber in there as well.

I am all homeworked out...

I had to take a break from my homework, my brain feels like it's going to fry. I have a huge psychology test coming up, so I know I'll have to buckle down and get crackin' on cramming. Yuck.

I pulled all my bows from Everitte's and sent them down the street to Rustic Star. Rustic Star is a consignment shop where different vendors put their wares up for sale. The owner actually emailed me and wanted to sell my bows there. She said that they were the best quality and the best made she'd ever seen. She said that she gets a lot of customers in asking if she has bows and she thinks that mine would do really well. She has a couple of other vendors that sell their bows there, but she thinks mine are a lot better. :) That made me feel good. So I had a friend of mine pull all of the bows from Everitte's and bring them to Rustic Star. The owner said she hadn't even had them a day and already sold six. She was trying to organize then and customers kept coming up and inquiring about them. She seems a lot more organized than the girl at the other shop, so I'm really looking forward to working with her. I have a lot of bows here that I need to ship to her, about 100+. I've spent the last couple of days inventorying and getting them priced accordingly. I am waiting on some personalized postcards from Vista Print that I'll be using as bow cards. I ordered close to 1000, so we'll see how long it takes. Then I have to cut the slits in them and get them mounted. I am excited. I've been making a lot of LSU colored bows because she says they sell really well. I hope to have a good batch of them sent to her so I can just send her steady streams of bows here and there, but she'll have a good inventory on hand.

I'm sure I'll write later, but I need to go wake-up my husband and daughter. Haha.

Man oh man.

Today was a pretty uneventful day. I couldn't go to class because Brooke is sick. I brought in my Psych quiz because I knew I did well on it, so I wanted it to count towards my grade. So I brought Brooke to campus with me and she was so overwhelmed by all the people on campus.Well, I checked my answers online tonight, and I got a B+ on it!!! I only missed three, but I'm going to contest one, because I think it's wrong. I mean, I think I got it right even though it tells me it's wrong.

I thought Brooke's fever had broke when she woke up from her nap, but I took her temp before she went to bed because she felt warm again to me. It was 101.4. She was drinking better today which is good news, but poor baby. :(

I finished my custom order today. It looks so cute! I hope she likes it.

Tonight after Brooke went to bed I wanted to make another bow. I had some colors in mind and I think it really looks nice. I'm going to list it tomorrow to see how it fares. I really like it because it's a lot bolder than my other ones. What do you think?

Alright, I really should get going. I have some things to do before bed and I have a long weekend of homework. :) Leave me some love!!!

New bow creations!!

Today was a rough day. Brooke woke up feeling a little warm so I took her temperature under the armpit. It read a little high, but wasn't over the 100 mark. So I took her to daycare, cautioned Danielle and told her to not hesitate to call me. Well, she called. She called at around 12:30 and told me Brooke had a temp of 101.7. Poor baby! So I went to scoop her up, took her home and put her straight to bed. She slept for 3.5 hours and I finally had to wake her up. I wanted her to get rest, but she also needs to sleep tonight. When she got up she was still warm but acting like her a little Brooke self. Needless to say, there won't be any school for me tomorrow. I e-mailed both professors. One responded, the other didn't. I'm bringing Brooke into school with me while I drop a couple things off. Eric had been sick this past week, and I told him not to kiss her!!! He's going to hear it when he gets home... GRRR.

I've worked on some bows. These are my newest creations. I really like the small korkers in the middle, it gives it a little something different. Let me know what you think! I think they're pretty neat. :)

Today started out stressful...

But has turned around dramatically! This morning after I dropped Brooke off I realized I had left my Psychology quiz at home. So I had to go all the way home, get it and then get to school on time. When I got to school I parked in the parking lot that was closest to my last class, Psychology. The nice thing was, CLASS WAS CANCELED! The suck part was, now I was parked in a totally inconvenient place. :) My Humanities class was good. We have presentations coming up on Thursday, so we worked in our groups. At the end of the class she gave back our first concept papers, and I got an A-!!! I was so excited! I wasn't sure how well I would do, so it was nice to see such a promising grade. This sets the mood for the class. Everyone has said that she grades really hard, so I know I'm capable of doing good things in this class. :)

After class I went home and studied. Brooke was staying at Danielle's until after nap so I could really focus. I finished my Sociology quiz so that was good. Then I tried studying History but I kept getting distracted. Horrible.

I picked up the peanut and we went to get groceries in the rain. Yuck. Cold and wet.

On another good note, I got a message on myspace from a shop owner in Louisiana. She was very impressed with my hair bows and wants to carry them in her store! I would send them to her listing what prices I wanted on what bows, she would then mark them up and give me what I want and take the difference. Sounds fair! I would price them how they are priced on Etsy, and then she can do what she wants. I think this would be a better fit than Everitte's because she isn't very good about sending me my money. That and she started  making her own bows so I'm not to keen on competition. I think I may pull the rest of my bows from Everitte's and have them sent to Rustic Star. We shall see!

And one more AWSOME thing. Brooke has this lovey that she's had since she was a baby. She's VERY attached to it and will not sleep without it. Eric and I have bought her 4 other loveys in hopes that she takes to one of them as well, with no avail. She got her lovey as a gift, so I had no idea what store it came from. Well, genius me decided to see who made it. I googled it and they have a website!! And the GREAT news is that they had them in stock still! So I ordered two to be on the safe side. They were very cheap so that makes me happy as well. Hopefully she takes to them as well as she took to her other one!!!

Alright. That's good. :)

"I don't want to be the rebound guy. I want to be the guy."

I LOVE Ugly Betty. I missed the last two episodes last season, so thank goodness they're replaying them before the new season starts! I watched the second to last one tonight where Gio tells Betty that he wants to be with her. How cute is he?? And I always LOVED Christopher Gorham (Henry). I loved him since he was on the show "Popular" way back in the day. Let's just say I have a soft spot for the nerdy guys. :) But I honestly hope that Betty chooses Gio. Henry has way too much baby mama drama (even though the baby may not be his!).

School was good today. We got our first take home exam in Sociology. I started it when Brooke was down for her nap. I got 2/3 of it finished which is pretty good. I do have a confession to make, I haven't read any of the book! Haha. All of my other classes keep me so busy, and this class doesn't really require you to read the chapters. We do a lot of inclass work so we cover a lot then. The questions on the exam are pretty easy to find in the book and the questions aren't too complicated. He basically told us the first day that if we showed up and got decent grades on the exam we could pass no problem. And it was REALLY easy to get an A. In History we discussed the plays "Medea" and "Lysistrata". I liked this class today because I felt confident about the discussion. I had a couple of really great valid points and the teacher recognized them. I like that. Tomorrow is Humanities and Psychology. Some of us get our papers back in Humanities, so I am anxious to see how I did. This is the first graded thing in that class, so I hope I did ok. I'm very excited to bring my new laptop to Psychology. It will be nice to take notes on this. I can type a lot faster than I can write. I figured out I can type while looking at something other than the keyboard or screen. I make a few typos, but I do a pretty good job. :) We also pass in our second take home quiz. The last one I got a B on and I was a little uncertain on how I did when I passed it in. This next one was a lot easier (or so I thought) so I think I'll get a better grade (I guess we'll see when we get them back!).

I should get to bed. Brooke will have two full days at daycare tomorrow and Wednesday. Eric will be in the field until Friday so this will give me time to get things done. I am planning on doing two full days and two part time days when Eric is at NTC all of November, and then have that same schedule when he deploys in February. I feel really comfortable with leaving Brooke in her care so I know she'll be ok!

Night guys!

Bowtastic!

I was in another bow mood today. I got my history paper done this morning, so when the peanut went down for a nap, I wanted to try my hand at a couple more bows. I made a Halloween bow, just for fun. I really like the colors together, hopefully it will do well on Etsy. (I can't figure out the photo editing on my Mac yet, so bare with me and sideways pictures!)

And I decided to make a couple more dragonflies. I have some awesome print ribbon so I thought I would see how they would look made out of a couple. They look so cute!

Eric will be in the field the first four days of this coming week. I am not looking forward to that. I wonder how well I'll get my homework done. Ha. Should be interesting. I really should start looking for a regular babysitter. I think I'll talk to Danielle about leaving Brooke at her house for a couple of full days. That way I'll be able to get some stuff done without any interruptions

I also got an email from someone on Etsy saying she would possible like to carry some of my bows in her mom's salon. She likes the pumpkin clippy and the Christmas tree clippy. I emailed her and said I don't have a lot of extra time to make a lot of bows to keep her salon stocked, but I would do the best I could. We'll see what she says.

Alright. I should figure out what  to do for dinner...any ideas???

Love them!

Today was a busy day! :) Well, not a lot to get done that had to get done, but I spent a lot of time doing me things.

This morning I went tanning, grabbed some things from the grocery store, got some coffee and mailed out orders of bows. I love tanning. It's relaxing and it makes me feel so much better. Eric has a really bad cold, so I stopped to get some decongestant so the poor boy can breath. They had a Starbucks in the grocery store, so I had to stop and get myself and my husband a caramel mocha. Mmmm, yummy!

When I got home, I went straight to my craft room to work on bows. I was in a HUGE bows mood, so I got to it! Everyone has been raving about my ladybugs and they've been constant sellers on Etsy, so I decided to expand my bug collection and added bees and dragonflies! So cute!

So then I decided to try my luck at the more elaborate bows. My past creations looked ok, but they were lacking that certain something. A couple of days ago I had an idea on how to improve them, but haven't had the time to test my idea, so today I did, and they turned out so cute!

I'm going to post a couple on Etsy tomorrow and see how they fare. I think they're adorable.

I love my new MacBook. I've been playing around with it, and I'm finally getting comfortable with it. Editing photos is really easy. It took me a moment to figure out how to import them from my computer then resizing and cropping was a little challenging at first, but now it's a breeze! I love how small it is, but yet it still packs the same power as my Toshiba. I can't wait to bring it to school and try it there. It would be nice to take notes on it so I don't have to use all that notebook paper. My psychology notebook is filling up fast!

Alright, I should get to bed. I do have a lot of homework to do tomorrow since I did NONE of it today. Ha. I did get my history paper done though. I don't think it's that good, but at least it's done! They were hard topics...Ha.

Ok, nighty night!

Thursday, September 11, 2008

It's a good day!!!

I got my MacBook! I'm typing on it right now! It's HALF the size of my toshiba, and I love it!!! It's so cute. It will take some time to get used to the different formatting, but so far so good! Right now I'm transferring all my files, pictures and music from one to the other. I'm sure I'm doing it the slow way, but it has to be done. Eric is going to be taking my old laptop (not really old, we've had it for about a year and a half) and will bring it to Afghanistan with him. Now both of our computers have a webcam so we can chat online when he's over there. :)

I have a lot of homework this weekend. I have to get my history paper done. I have a feeling I'm not going to do so well on this one, but hopefully I'll get at least a passing grade.

There's not much I have to write about, so I'm going to cut this short. MUAH!

Almost as stupid as Louisiana...

So. Eric has his Newcomers Brief today. He goes to one at every new base we're stationed at. And he brings home a whole slew of information. One thing was that I HAVE to get an Alaska drivers license. Not so bad right? But I have to take a test in order to get it!!!! It's some written drivers test and I have to pass it in order to get a license here. Well, what happens if I don't pass it? I'm SOL? I'm not too happy about that. I like my MN drivers license and am very content with where I came from. :) I'm almost half tempted to say screw it and not get one, but I know I'll be worse off if I get into a car accident or pulled over. I may just have to bite the bullet and quit my bitching. I really don't want to though. That and when am I going to have time??? My daycare lady doesn't take anyone on Friday. So my only other option is to either find a sitter for a Friday or do it in the afternoon sometime Monday-Thursday. ANNOYING. Another thing that can kiss my ass...I have to get a sticker on my car saying it's safe to drive and is unlikely to break down on the side of the road. HA. I have a 2003 Camry, I think it'll be just fine. I don't understand why they can't make that law for cars that are under a certain year. More money I have to shell out.

I went grocery shopping today. My usual $200 grocery bill was $300. All of the prices here are so ridiculously high, I can barely afford to buy food! I hope it was a little high because I bought bulk meat, another 2 packs of diapers and some halibut. I HOPE. Because at this rate, we'll be eating ramen everyday for every meal. Won't that be delicious?

I got a large order for bows today from one of my Louisiana playgroup friends. :) Her family PCS'd to Ft. Rucker. We sure miss them. She placed the order this morning and I was able to ship it this afternoon! I hope she likes them and passes me on! My sales are starting to pick up thank goodness. Hopefully it will keep going this way. It sure keeps me busy, along with school and my daughter.

Well that was a quick little snippet. I really should go work on my history paper. My husband took my daughter to go pick one of our friends up from the airport. He is PCSing here and got in tonight. His plane landed at 7:30 and it's almost 9:30. The peanut's bedtime was at 8, so we'll see how she fares when she gets home. Straight to bed with her!!!

Procrastination is a DISEASE!!!

Seriously, someone needs to kick my ass into high gear. I have a bit of breathing room in my classes this week, but that doesn't mean I should completely check myself out right???

Yesterday was pretty uneventful. I was waiting for the moving company all afternoon to come pick up our empty boxes. I finally called the company and they said they had called the number that was provided to them (which was my husband's) and no one answered, therefore did not come pick up the boxes. So, I called my husband and gave him an earful. Common sense, you give the phone number of whoever is going to be present when they people come!!! DUH. I had so much to do, and I wasted a whole afternoon. I hate wasting time. It's bothersome. So I got irritated, and decided I wasn't cooking dinner. We went to Hacienda (Mexican) and it was delish! Brooke HAD to keep dipping her chip into the salsa and threw a fit when we took it away. (She was a mess.) She's getting into that stage where everything has to be done on her terms and on her time. It's getting very frustrating since her coordination is still developing. But, she has to learn right?

So this morning I woke up, took a shower, and went down to get my screaming kid. I had school, and found a parking spot right away! That never happens on Tuesday and Thursdays...Had a good Humanities class. We learned about our group presentations. Wowza. Hopefully this isn't going to be more of a headache than I'm anticipating.

After Brooke woke up from her nap (I actually woke her up, which happens very rarely now), and dragged our asses into rush hour so I could get an estimate done on the damage the RV left when it decided to bulldoze us in the Fred Meyer parking lot. I went to three different buildings before I found the right one. When I worked for a dealership, all this crap was in the same building! What a novel idea!!! Turns out, the damage is $2700 worth. Ouch. What sucks though is that we had gotten hit in the same area about two years ago. We had it fixed. Well, when we got hit THIS time, my husband noticed that when it was fixed last time, they didn't replace the part they said they were going to replace, they just bondo'd it. So, they took our money and didn't do the work. So I called the shop today, guess what?! They're out of business!!! HOLY SHIT! Big suprise! So I told the lady, we want our money back. She gave me the run around for about 10 minutes, I had enough of it and just point blank told her, we want the money. So she's going to look for our paperwork and get back to me tomorrow. Yeah right. This evening I emailed the estimate to the insurance company of the RV that hit me. I also told them I need a rental car because I have a toddler and I go to school FT. :) I don't think she liked that much, but what are you going to do?!

On another note, I was featured in TWO Treasuries on Etsy! It's the first time I've known of some of my stuff being featured, but it makes me all warm inside. but now for the life of me, I can't find which ones they are so I can't post links. Dangit.

Alright. I better get my ass in gear.

Motivate me!

I am so unmotivated right now. I should be working on my history paper, but my mind is completely blank. I did write my Humanities paper though, so I wasn't completely useless today. I finally said "screw it", and went to make some bows for Brooke. She has all these cue little outfits and no bows of her own to match, so I took care of a few of them. I still have some more colors to incorporate, but this is a good start! I also realized Brooke needs more long sleeved shirts for this winter. And I'm going to have to start looking for more 2T jeans. She's already growing out of her 18 month jeans!!! Holy heck. I cannot keep up with that girl!

Last night we had one of Eric's co-workers over with his wife. It was a lot of fun and we felt proud of where we lived! I made baked ziti, caesar salad and garlic bread. It went over very well. :) Then Stone's wife took me to BINGO! It was soooo much fun, I'm going to have to go back and do it again. I didn't win, but it was an inexpensive way to have a little fun and get out of the house! I now need to find a regular babysitter so I can take Eric. :) We'll double our chances of winning, right? Haha.

I'm not really looking forward to school in the upcoming weeks. I was sort of spoiled because we had one full week, then two days off so that meant a two day school week last week. Our next break doesn't come until Thanksgiving. Holy busy. Eric will be gone the majority of November, so will get to see what it will be like when Eric's deployed. YIKES!

Ok, I should go motivate myself. Here's a couple of cute pictures from when Eric was playing outside with Brooke this morning. Enjoy!

Oh Saturday

My daughter and her daddy are sitting side-by-side watching The Backyardigans together. Too cute. I'm going to miss seeing this when he deploys.

Last night I made an impulse purchase. My husband found out where he was going exactly when he deploys. Turns out he'll be able to have Internet access in his room, so I thought he could take my laptop and I could get a new one. The one he'd be taking has a web cam so he'll be able to video chat with us and see both myself and our peanut. So I've been wanting an Apple computer for awhile now, but since I just bought this laptop a little over a year ago, I thought it ridiculous to buy another computer so soon after. But now that I had a REASON, I bought one last night. 0_o. Isn't it pretty?!!?! It's just the simple Macbook, but the most expensive one. I bought it off of Aafes, so we'll see how long it takes to get here. :) My friend from Louisiana, who then moved to Alaska, and now she lives in Colorado with her fiancee, said she would send me Office for Mac. How nice was that?! I'm super excited to get it and review it. :)
This morning I went tanning and chopped three inches off of my hair. Yikes! It's super cute though when I style it. It's still pretty cute when I don't, but so cute!!! I always feel like I'm going bald when my hair gets too long.
We are now watching Jon and Kate plus 8. LOVE that show!!
Alright. I'm off to watch my favorite show!!!!

Lazy Day

Today has been pretty uneventful so far (I guess it's only 2:38 P.M.).

Brooke and I went to the post office to mail our pictures we got done back in December to Grandpa ("Pa-pa"), Auntie Allison and Auntie Bubba. We also mailed a custom order to a wonderful buyer in Illinois and headbands to the boutique I sell bows in down in Louisiana. I also bought stamps. I had a whole bunch, but I don't know where they went. :(

While Brooke was napping I worked on some homework. I did some psychology and was reading and taking notes all about the biological make-up of our bodies. It's pretty interesting. :) I still have about 20 pages to read through and take notes on, but it shouldn't take too long. I have a take home quiz I need to print off so I can do it while I'm reading. then I have to type up my humanities essay, read and take notes for history, and start my paper for history. Thank goodness I have Fridays off and Eric is home on the weekends so I can focus on other things than my precious Brooke! I think when Eric deploys I'll find someone to come over a couple times a week so I can get some homework done. :) This summer won't be too bad, I think I may take a couple of classes so I can add credits, but I don't think I'll do a full load. Next school year I'll take more classes (I'm thinking). But we'll see. This will be our first deployment together. Who knows what will happen! And who knows what will happen with the upcoming elections.

You know what really bothers me, the severe right wings who sit there and completely bash the Democrats. And I'm not just talking about Obama, I'm talking about people like me. I am a Democrats, and very proud. I grew up in a democratic family and take pride in making my political decisions. But I don't go around making Republicans feel like they're stupid for being apart of that party. I'm sick of seeing things like "dumb-o-crats" and bashing Obama. There are a lot of supporters of Obama out there, and I am one of them. My husband is a Republican and will most likely be voting McCain, but we don't sit here and bash each other for our voting preferences. I am educated. I read the papers. I talk to people. I'm not ignorant and I wish people would stop implying that Democrat's are ignorant. If you have an opinion, great, but do it in a mature non judgemental way. And the funny thing is, most the things I'm seeing posted are by people who are older than me. It's frustrating. I did register to vote the other day on campus, and when I checked the "Democrat" box, the person signing me up was very happy I was an Obama supporter. We see how our current Republican leader has lead us for the past 8 years, and we're not doing so hot are we?

On another less political topic, I have a lot of GREAT printed 3/8 ribbon! One of my orders I sent out today was for 12 of them! I think they're great because they can match different outfits, and they're very inexpensive to buy!!! Aren't they adorable?!

Anywho, I should go. I don't think my chicken legs are going to thaw out by the time dinner comes along...Oh! And I think I may chop my hair off tomorrow. I always feel like I'm going bald when my hair starts getting long. Plus it's easier to take care of shorter. :) And tanning! I love tanning. <3

Another week gone...

This was a short week for school. We had Monday and Tuesday off due to Labor day and since I don't have classes Friday, I only had two days of school. I have plenty of school work to do this weekend, including typing a paper for one of my classes. thank god it was an easy paper (or so I thought). We'll see how the paper grades...HA.

Brooke is getting so big. I can't believe all of the milestones she reaches everyday. She signs, talks, throws temper tantrums, runs, jumps, laughs, plays...it's amazing! I took her to Office Max today to get a couple of photo mailers and I let her just walk on her own. She LOVED it. She loved the freedom. There was a lot of "Brooke, put that back!", and "Brooke! Come walk next to mommy!". But she listened. Haha.

I have been working on a couple of orders. I had a lovely buyer buy 12 simple clips and a pumpkin clip. I also have a custom order for 6 clips, 6 simple bows, 3 ladybug bows and a Christmas Tree clip. :) Let's hope this keeps up! I will be a very busy lady with school, Brooke and bows. I guess it could be, books, Brooke, and bows! The three B's. Ha.

We're having people over Saturday night. It's so odd having people over. In Louisiana our house was such a crap house that we were embarrassed to have people over. But now that we have an awesome house, we're excited to have people over! I'll be making baked ziti. YUM. It's Eric's favorite.

Alright, I need to go finish these bows. Ciao!

So much too do in so little time...

So. My house smells because my daughter found a piece of paper on the floor, ate it, then puked it all up. Along with her breakfast. I knew the house smelled all day, but I didn't know what from. I took the garbage out thinking it was that. Nope. It wasn't until last night when my husband tells me Brooke had thrown up on the floor. The only time I could think she would have done it was when I was in the shower...Oh baby. No now...the stink residue is still there. ::sigh::

I've been trying to promote my bows. It hasn't been working very well. I've had a couple of orders, but it's pretty pathetic. I know I don't make ugly bows... I've seen some bows where you just go "wow, that's bad" and they have more sales than me!!! What's their secret??? I have so many different styles and I keep my prices VERY competitive, cheaper than most! Especially for the quality. I mean shoot, , how cute are those?! (I did those last night because I was super stressed...watching 90210). Someone send me some business! I LOVE making them, and love to see other kids wearing them even more. I am determined!

I'm in my second week of school. My classes are kicking my ass. Well, all but one. History, humanities and psychology are really keeping my busy. So much reading and taking notes. Holy cow. I have so much to do this weekend. The husband better keep the daughter entertained!!! Haha.

Alright. I should go and try and get this stink out of the carpet. SO GROSS.
